Preparation

  1. Before cooking, trim about 1 inch from the root
  2. The mushrooms can be lightly washed (if there are visible dirt spots). Don’t toss when cleaning the mushrooms in water as you would want to be gentle with your mushrooms
  3. Any slimy stems should be discarded
  4. It is important to use enoki mushrooms right after you wash them. The extra moisture can cause your enokis to spoil quickly; so it is recommended to only wash as much enoki as you shall cook with immediately.

How Best to Cook

Since dainty, thin enoki mushrooms only take 1-2 minutes to cook and have a very mild taste, it is a perfect mushroom that absorbs all the delicious flavors of its surrounding ingredients, especially so in a side dish such as a salad, or when sauteed or steamed.

  • To stir-fry your enokis, we recommend that you whip out your wok!
  • The pan’s rounded bottom, with a dash of oil on high heat shall cook your enokis in no time while you stir it constantly.
  • This method will cook enokis pretty fast, making them nice and crispy.
  • Deep frying too is a 1-2 minute process, making them crispy & golden with a satisfying crunch in no time.
  • These crunchy, savory little strips will work great as toppings and garnishes.

Details to note when cooking

Due to their thin size, enoki mushrooms will cook pretty fast, especially if you’re stir-frying them. Watch them closely, so they don’t overcook. When sautéing, it can take about 5 minutes to cook your enokis to perfection, but it may only take about 2 minutes when stir-frying.
