They have a mild taste with hints of sweetness & earthy undertones, followed by a peppery aftertaste. They take on a slightly chewy & meaty texture when cooked.

Preparation

Do not wash the Black pearl mushroom, rather brush off dirt, if any, from the florets you plan to prepare.

In case cleansing is required, you may wipe gently with a damp (paper) towel.

Trim the stems of the black pearl mushrooms if they are tough or woody. You can also choose to remove the stems completely.

How Best to Cook

Black pearl mushroom on average takes 5 -7 minutes to cook and blend in well with a variety of cooking techniques, such as stir-frying, sautéing, cooking on skewers as well as steaming. 

Details to note when cooking

Use medium to high heat to ensure that during the sauté process the black pearl mushroom is cooked evenly and develops an optimal golden brown texture.
